What is a community? A Community is a group of people that
come together because of a common interest, feature or quality. Examples of
these can include communities based on location, race, age, fan groups, and
even religion. Each and every person in a community is important because they
have their own role in contributing with individual and creative ideas. As
people, one by one, come together because of their common qualities, more communities
begin to form. For example, I belong to the Armenian community. The Armenian community
is a community that has formed based on race. This community consists of Armenian
students, teachers, families, youth and elders. All these people have been
brought together due to their love for their culture, country and history. I
also belong to the community consisting of people around the age of sixteen and
seventeen. It is natural for teens around the same age to form a common understanding
or community because they are usually involved in similar activities as well as
having similar day to day lives, struggles and accomplishments. Teens also form
communities virtually, through social networks. For example, girls that like Justin
Bieber and constantly tweet about him will automatically feel a connection and bond
with one another through twitter, even if they have not met each other in
person. These are just a few of the many communities that exist in the world
around us.
