If I were to have a Gatsby party it
would be extravagant. I would invite all my friends. The party would take place
in a huge palace. This palace would be located in one of the Islands of Hawaii.
The huge palace would be found on the shore with easy access to the beach so
that guests would be able to go to swim or do a bonfire in the sand. The palace
would also provide enough bedrooms for all my guests to sleep in. The” tropical
styled” fort would have hula dancers at the entrance that would welcome guests
in. The bar for drinks would be found in the pool which would be in the
backyard of the mansion. Pina coladas and other tropical punches would be
served. In the kitchen would be a sushi bar with chefs making endless rolls for
any of the guests’ requests. However, for any guests that do not enjoy sushi
there would also be built in chipotle bar in the kitchen as well. The entertainment
would be awesome. Famous artists like Justin Bieber, Jason Derulo and Beyoncé
would sing at the concert which would be in the backyard. Besides my friends I
would invite a few VIP guests. The VIP guest list would include Adam Levine,
Channing Tatum, Zack Efron and Ludacris. My party would be on Fridays of every
weekend. Food would be endless, music would be loud, and every one would be
enjoying each other’s company.
Picture this. What would you say, if I told you about this girl I know. She is sixteen years old and full of life, love, and laughter. She's spontaneous and curious. Always ready to explore new things and seek the heights. Her hobbies include eating, playing volleyball and long walks on the beach. I think she's pretty cool, don't you?

“Endangered Turtles Face New Threat in
Indonesia”
-Time
Writer Margie Mason of Time magazine published an article on
January 16 2014. This interesting yet devastation article summarizes the
situation in Indonesia regarding the endangered sea turtles. Besides being
endangered, there beautiful creatures are facing another tragic obstacle. New
research studies show that the sea turtles are crowding themselves into a
marine reserve. Breaking numbered records almost everywhere; these turtles are
gobbling so much sea grass, that they are slowly destroying their only food
source. Slowly, the food supply is decreasing, leaving the turtles with nothing
to eat. Forced into this situation, “…they now claw at the plants with their
flippers and use their mouths to violently rip the sea grass out by the roots,
leaving patches of white sandy ocean floor.” This leaves them with no food as
well as a dangerous environment to live in. Study groups suggest that there
might be a short term solution. Turtles may be “relocated” and dispersed to
different areas. However, these endangered turtles must be kept in serious
marine preserve, because they are in even a riskier situation outside in other
waters. If kept outside these marine reserves, turtles are becoming a victim of
poaching as well us a predator in “heavy hunting of sharks”. Hopefully, soon
enough environmentalists and other groups will find a way to save these
beautiful creatures before it is too late.

Blog 2: 1920's Clothing
During the 1920’s many things were
changing. These changes brought new ways of how people dressed, especially for
the women. “Flappers” and their clothing were very famous. However, other
styles were also becoming popular. For the women, the length of their skirts
would often change. For the beginning of this era, skirt heights rose to the
knees and then a few years past, went back down to the ankles. Evening gowns or
clothing were a bit flashy. Sportswear or everyday outfits were comfortable. And
for work, traditional and conservative suits were worn. Dresses usually fell straight
down till the ground, or broadened and flared at the hip or knee. Sweaters and skirts were also matched
together, usually with plaid patterns. Skirts were pleated and worn down low at
the hip. Boyish looks were also trendy back then. Women started to wear curve-less
dresses that hid their waist completely. Belts were not worn around the waist
but around the hip. The “chemise” dress had become quite popular as well. Women’s
casual attire included tennis and golfing uniforms, as well as comfortable skirts
with “sailor” blouses. For the head, large “brim hats” were common and worn by
many. As time went by more and more of the women started to dress like each
other, creating a bold movement and era for the 1920’s clothing.

"CES 2014 Photos: Gadgets,
Cars, Wearables, Robots and More from the Vegas Tech Show"
- Time Magazine
On January 11, 2014 Time magazine published photos and
descriptions displaying some of the interesting, new gadgets presented at the
2014 Las Vegas Tech Show. Out of almost a hundred new designs, there were a few
extremely intriguing ones. One the multiple fascinating creations was the “Sony
Bluetooth tennis racket”. This is a tennis racket that has a built in blue-tooth.
As one plays with the racket, the statistics of the actions are shown on either
a smartphone or tablet screen. These statistics include a player’s swing speed,
ball speed, as well as spin rate. Another one that was tremendously interesting
was the 3D food printer called the “ChefJet Pro 3D”. This food printer creates
a 3D print of edible, multi colored candy with a single flavor. This invention
is intended to be used in places such as hotels and restaurants. As Time magazine writes,” ...expected to
hit the market in the second half of 2014 for approximately $10,000”. The “PawsCam
Camera” was also one of the interesting inventions. This is a “waterproof, two
megapixel camera” that is hung on the leash of a dog. It is used to film any
interesting things that happen. This may also be used to see what one’s pet is
doing when they are not around. It is said that this will be available in March,
for a price of about $200. All in all, the 2014 Vegas tech show presented great
new ideas. These are just a few of those multiple awesome creations.
